Last Thursday was the big awards ceremonies at the kids' school. First up, Kelli and Katie. Both received the High Flying Hawk award and a Gold Medal. In order to get this, they had to do so many things in class and at home. I knew Katie was getting this award because her teacher sent home a note saying so. Kelli, on the other hand, was a complete shock! Way to go K&K!!

Mak also received the High Flying Hawk and Gold Medal in 4th grade. Each year, the requirements get harder and the kids have to do more of them to get the highest award.

Last up was the sixth graders. Very few of them got the High Flying Hawk award because there are so many things to do along with all the required school stuff. I knew Tim was not going to get any Flying Hawk award because he missed half the school year. The two awards he did get though were a huge surprise. First was the "Presidential Academic Award." The teachers look at grades 4-6 and give out this award to those who have excelled throughout the years. Only 2 per 6th grade class were given out! Tim and a girl were the ones from his class! The second award in the highest award a 6th grader can get and is a national award as well. I was told to include this award on any college applications that Tim fills out! It is the "Hope of America" award and is given to those kids who are stand-outs in all aspects of their life. Three kids in each 6th grade class are given this award so 15 kids total from Herriman Elementary! Tim is unstoppable:)
