Camping in March?
Last Friday, Cory and I decided to take the kids out camping for the first time this year. We thought we would have the ideal weekend to go to the Knolls - just 40 miles east of Wendover. Here is our lovely campsite. No trees, just lots of sand and trails for some fun riding!
We got a out late Friday afternoon, 5pm. We got to Magna, and I asked Cory if he had packed any long pants since he had shorts on and nights can be quite cool in the desert. He said yes, they were in the bag. Well, we didn't communicate very well, and the bag was left at home on our bed. We should have turned around and went home at this point. But, the kids were so excited to go camping, so I called my Mom and she brought us the bag while we ate dinner at McDonald's. Once we got set up, in the dark, Tim got a fire going and we had smores'. The night was beautiful. Quiet, warm and the stars were so bright! We went to bed with the wind blowing just a bit! During the night, I didn't sleep well at all. The wind was blowing so hard that I thought the trailer was going to blow over. Cory kept telling me that our trailer was too heavy to be blown over. I later found out that he didn't sleep well either. I thought for sure that the wind during the night would stop as the next day came to, and we would be left with a beautiful "calm before the storm" day. NOT!! The wind blew hard all day long!
While Cory and Tim were off riding in the clouds of dirt, the girls were playing in the sand. The picture above is Tim riding around. After awhile, they all came to me asking for their goggles to wear. Here's a picture of the three of them! They were so cute.
We ate lunch, then headed out for a family ride. See the hill behind the girls in the picture? On the left side you can barely see a trail. That's were our family ride started and ended. Half way up the trail, Tim dumped his bike and broke the clutch. So, Cory, Tim and Kelli went to Wendover to find a clutch and a battery for the trailer. All the power was drained out while unhooking the vehicle. Mak, Katie and I stayed behind and hung out. I read a bit, Katie watched HMS3 on Mak's i-pod, and Mak played some games. We had no power, the kitchen sink was leaking so I couldn't clean dished from lunch, and the wind was still blowing. Cory called from Wendover and said there was no motorcycle parts place and the auto parts place was already closed so we couldn't get a battery. I started to pack up. I had had enough and just wanted to go home. Plus, there was no way we could have a campfire if the wind continued, which the kids were really looking forward to. The drive home was long. The wind blew us all over the road and at times the visibility was terrible! We rewarded the family, and my mom, with a night out to the movies. We all showered quickly and made it to the 7:15 showing of "Race to Witch Mountain!" Very good show. Well worth the weekend we had!

St. Patrick's Day!
We had quite the green day! All the kids wore green shirts to school (I forgot to take pictures) and the girls had fun green things in their hair. I even got Cory to put on a green shirt. He is so not into the spirit of "holidays." That night, the Cub Scouts had their annual "Blue and Gold" dinner. The den mothers did a fabulous job! The church gym was decorated with dinosaurs and such. Way cute! Thanks ladies. Normally I don't go to the monthly pack meetings, but Tim completed all the requirements to receive his Bear. Pretty big thing. Now he is working on getting his Webelos badge, and after that he will be in Boy Scouts. Tim also earned a gold arrow point and three silver arrow points for extra things he did. For every ten extra things, he got an arrow point. So, of course I went to see him get his badge, and also to plant a huge kiss on him. It's a tradition!! Here are some pics of the night. By the way, the guy wearing the shorts next to Tim, is the Cubmaster, Cory!!

Riding - again!
The view from Five Mile looking east towards the Wasatch Mountains!

It's been awhile since my last blog. Not much has happened in the last two weeks, other than I celebrated my 34th birthday on the 2nd. It wasn't a very exciting day. I did my weekly grocery shopping, went to lunch with Cory, got some new "girl" jeans that fit me (Buckle is the best) and played volleyball. Our team tied for 1st place this past season. And we finally got a T-shirt!! Cory was able to come watch me play, which doesn't happen often because he is either home with the kids or out of town. Thank you to all my family and friends who called me. You made my day and I am so grateful you are apart of my life! Love you all.
So, our family went motorcycle riding this past weekend! This time we went to Five Mile, just east of Lehi. It was a beautiful day! Not too hot, not cold, a little breeze. We started out with a family ride. Cory had Kelli on his bike, Tim was alone on his bike and I had Katie and Mak on my four-wheeler. We didn't run into any mud this time, just a few patches of snow. We rode for about an hour, then went back to the truck. Tim and Mak rode around while the girls played on the trailer and Cory went for a solo ride. I sat on the 4-wheeler eating Oreo cakesters. (These are my new favorite snack!) We borrowed a little motorcycle from the Douglas' - thanks guys - for Mak to practice on. She did so well, crashing only once. Tim is getting more darring everytime he rides. Soon, he will be giving Cory a run for his money!

Motorcycle Riding!
Saturday, Cory and I took the kids motorcycle riding at Delle. For those of you who don't know where Delle is, it's about an hour west of us, before you reach the salt flats. We went with our friends, the Douglas. What an adventure! The weather was a little on the cool side, didn't quite get to 50 like the news said it would. And the wind was blowing a bit, which made it feel even cooler. But, the kids had a blast riding on a nearby track. Tim and I found some piles of junk and went into "destruction" mode! We smashed an old tv and toilet with bricks. It was so cool! After awhile, we decided to go on a family ride. Cory led us out onto a flat. Little did we know that half way out, the flat was one big mud pit. What a mess! Mud was everywhere and the kids had a hard time getting out. Luckily, my 4-wheeler didn't have any problems. I was having a blast doing doughnuts and making the mud fly! After we got out of the mud and back to the vehicles, the kids headed over to the track and played on an old school bus and watched the big boys jump their bikes. Don't worry, Cory wasn't out there jumping. Not yet at least. He did go around a couple of times. He knows his limits! That night, we tried to clean off the bikes. Our lawn is covered with piles of gray dirt blobs. Yuck! And the dirt is reacting with the 4-wheeler's tires making them turn an old BYU blue. We got pizza from Little Ceasars and let the kids run wild for awhile. It was a long, exhausting day, but oh the memories we made!
