Chickens!

Last night, I spotted some "rare" chickens in the neighborhood.  They ran around laying eggs, showed me their tail feathers, and even chased a deer up the street while riding in a wagon!  It was crazy ;)

Laying eggs!
Just in case you are wondering what was going on-Katie and I took the cover off the trampoline that protects the springs.  It was getting hard and had tears in it.  These three took the thing apart and found these thin strips of foam.  At first they were jumping the pieces of foam on the tramp, pretending they were pieces of bacon.  Then Katie wanted to make a skirt out of the bacon.  She actually got out the duck tape and tried to tape her pieces together to make a skirt :)  Then one of them, put the pieces in their shorts and said, "Look, I'm a chicken!"  So cute and entertaining!  Gotta love kids and their imaginations!

Boating!

This past weekend, we went boating at Deer Creek Reservoir with some neighbors!  It was nice to get out of the 100 degree heat wave we've been experiencing, but the winds were almost too much to bear.  No matter, we toughed it out and had a great day once we got our neighbors boat running and food in everyone's tummies :)  Here are some pictures from the day!

Dance!

This morning was the elementary school's annual Dance Festival!  Each grade dances to music from different decades.  This year, the second graders, Kelli and Katie, danced to "Achy, Breaky Heart" from the 90's!
Kelli in our only pair of cowboy boots!
Katie wore our only cowboy hat!
The fifth graders, Mak, danced to a mix of music from the 70's, including Dancing Queen, Kung Fu Fighting, and YMCA!
Peace!  Mak was one of four 5th graders to have a speaking part before the dance.  She had to memorize a part, then try out.  The parts described the way of life in the 70's!

Cheer Camp

Yep, I did the unthinkable.  I allowed K&K to attend a mini cheer camp :)  It was only two days, then a small performance.  It gave the twins something to do and helped out a cheerleader in our neighborhood!
Kelli and Katie the day of their performance!

I don't think that is actually a cheer :)

Ragnar

Cory participated in Ragnar this past weekend!  His team, Running up your pAss, completed the 197 mile course in 33 hours, 44 minutes.  It's pure craziness!!  But this is Cory's second year, and I think he is seriously hooked ;)

Cancer Camp

Tim is attending a week long camp for kids who have had cancer!  It is located on the other side of the Oquirrh Mountains.  He is so close, yet so far away.  I will post all about camp once he gets home this weekend.  Until then, here are a few pictures from this morning.

Trail leading up to the cabin!

Some of the activities include swimming, crafts, a ropes course, climbing and scuba diving.  Tim was super excited to learn to scuba dive!  I am super excited that our oncologist, social worker, and a couple nurses are at camp and know Tim.  That helps to relax a nervous Mom, especially since I have no way of communicating with Tim all week.

Second Class Scout

Tim is officially a Second Class Scout now!  He earned this title last fall, but was not recognized or given his patch.  Last nigh,t at our ward's Court of Honor, Tim received that recognition and earned three merit badges as well.  He is currently working on 6 other merit badges and has the goal to be a First Class Scout before he starts school in the fall!

Mak's Blog

Mak has started blogging!  You can check out her blog here.  She just started, so you'll have to check back often to see what she thinks about things :)  *I also put a link to her blog on the sidebar with other blogs!*

Leg #3

Tim doesn't have it yet!  We are just starting the process with a mold of his rotated foot.  Then comes a fitting of the test socket and then hopefully the new leg.  Tim will be getting a new foot!  Hopefully one that will let him be more active :)

Busy, busy, busy!

The title says it all.  But here is an explanation for the pictures!
  • Cory and I finished demo-ing the shower in our bathroom.  I finally decided on granite and tile to install.  Now we just have to put up some green board, install the granite/tile, put the vanity back in, and get a shower door.  Not too much more ;)
  • We sold the Crownline boat!
  • We took part in the Herriman Days' festivities.  The parade was practically in our front yard and the kids got a lot of candy!  We also attended the first annual Enduro-Cross at the park.  AWESOME!!
  • We said good-bye to the Raptor :(
  • We attended Mak's 5th grade patriotic program.
  • The kids camped out in the basement after a late night of boating
  • And, we purchased a newer, bigger boat-a Maxum 2300SR.  SWEET!

Day with the Winders!

Let me start with a little background:  last October, we had the awesome opportunity to stay at a condo in Park City.  (click here)  While on a walk one evening, we stumbled into a fire station and met Captain Shawn Winder, Sheriff Winder's wife.  She took a liking to Tim, his leg and his experience!  She gave Cory her card and told him to call her to come check out some new equipment the fire station would be getting.  Life got busy, and the call was never made.  Fast forward to April of this year and the Make-A-Wish Gala we were apart of.  (click here)  Sheriff Winder was the emcee for the event and his wife was there with him.  Captain Winder told her husband about Tim and how she had met us before.  Again, Captain Winder told Cory to call her.  This time he did and a day long event was planned not only for Tim, but for other Make-A-Wish kids.  Here is what took place!

We had a great day and thrilled that Eric, Echo, Matthew and their families could join us.  We missed the other kids and their families that couldn't make it.  Thanks to Sheriff and Captain Winder and all their staff for an one of kind experience!

Tim's Star Raising

Last week, we closed Tim's Make-A-Wish chapter, so to speak.  We were invited to the office in Murray for a tour of the beautiful building to raise Tim's wish start among the other wish stars!  It was a great night and a great way to remember Tim's awesome wish:)

I got a kick out of this sign!  Umm, let's go to Hawaii!!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a busy, fun weekend!  Saturday afternoon, the three girls, my Mom and I made a quick trip out to Vernal.  We stopped at my step-dad's grave to clean it up and leave some flowers.  Then, I showed the girls where I spent my high school years.  They were shocked to see the small white house I lived it and mentioned how "old" it is:)
The girls and I at the cemetery.  It was very windy:)

Meanwhile, Cory and Tim stayed home and continued to demo the master shower.  Cory and I discovered mold underneath the tile and decided to take everything out and start over with a solid surface, hopefully granite!  A great way to spend a windy, cold, wet day:)

What Cory and I see everyday in our bathroom:(
Monday turned out to be a nice day.  So, after Cory and I did some more demo, we loaded up his dirt bike and my four-wheeler, and spent the afternoon riding in the mountains, American Fork Canyon to be precise!

Muddy, wet, steep trail!
Cory taking a break!
Yep, that's me!
So beautiful!  I almost went off the trail a couple of times looking at this view:)

Tim ended up going swimming with a friend!   He came home with a sun burnt face and shoulders.  The girls went swimming at my grandma's place.  Good thing the pool is heated because it wasn't exactly a super warm day.  No matter, they had a blast!
