Tim's Birthday Party!

Last night, we had Tim's party. Cory was out of town on Tim's birthday, so we had to delay the party. Tim was a little bummed, but after he opened his gifts, he was very happy with having to wait a day! Tim loves Tilapia, a white fish, so we had that for dinner with rice and green beans. We had a chocolate cake and ice-cream for dessert! Here are some pictures from the party. This is Tim with is loot!Tim loves Legos. He has wanted this one for so long and was so excited when he opened it. He put it together last night in about half an hour!Tim also got 4 laser guns. All the kids played laser tag last night for awhile. Tim says the guns are so cool!
Happy 11th Birthday Tim!
I put trick candles on Tim's cake, but they did not work. This is Tim listening to us complain that the candles failed! The adults were pretty bummed, we wanted to see Tim work to blow those candles out:)

Birthday Weekend!

We had a very busy weekend. With the weekend being in between Mak's and Tim's birthdays, my Dad and younger brother came over from the Reno area. This is Uncle Justin (Bustin) with Kelli. (Kelli just adores her Uncle Bustin!) The kids love it when Uncle Bustin comes around. He is so much fun, and does crazy things, like jump his motorcycle over them. (See May of 2009)Uncle Bustin is also perfect to wrestle with. Here he is taking care of both Mak and Tim. Just after this picture was taken, Tim decided to tackle Justin. Justin turned his head at the wrong time, and got Tim's knee to the eye! Justin just shook his head, sat for a minute and continued being tackled! What a guy!
We went to Joe's Crab Shack one night for the kids' birthdays. They got to dress up funky and hoola hoop while the employees sang to them. Surprisingly, they both enjoyed it:)
Tim and Mak got some gifts as well. Tim got a new 22 rifle. He loves to go shooting and "destroy" things. Mak got a much needed bike. I think Tim and Mak were both happy with the gifts!
Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday were spent near Delta, Utah. We took the new camper out and the boys did some deseret racing. This is my Dad with Katie and Kelli Friday night. It was so cold, thus the winter parkas and gloves. It was super muddy there from all the rain we received all day Friday. We almost got stuck in that water/mud hole you see in the background. That would not have been good to have both the truck and trailer stuck in the middle of pit row!
Saturday was race day! Tim's race was at 8:30 in the morning. Tim rode 3 laps, each lap was about 10 miles. Here he is crossing the finish line. He ended up 3rd in his class. Not too bad!Cory and Justin's race started at 12pm. Actually it was closer to 12:30, but who's keeping track. Their race was a 18 mile loop. Both Cory and Justin got in 4 loops, the over-all winner got in 5 loops. The start was insane. Each division lined up at the top of this hill, and took off down the hill, about 40 feet down, and out through a sage brush filled area. After riding about a mile through 6 feet tall sage brush, the riders went up a steep hill and out onto the course. The kids, my dad and I sat up on a cliff about in the middle of this valley to watch the start. The riders looked like little ants making their way through grass. It was quite a site to watch! Here is a link to Cory's start. It's crazy!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ummqy7Fxe8&feature=related
Just before the end of the loop, the riders had to go through an endurance section. The riders went over logs, river rocks, up and over tires (Cory is going over the tires below) and through boulders. No thank you:)
The day was a long one! But we all had a good time, and got some sun too. Cory ended up taking 5th place in the amateur division, and Justin took 3rd in the novice division. We all slept very well that night. Here's the guys chilling after eating BBQ chicken and beans for dinner. The trailer smelled good that night:)

The girls had a lot of fun as well. Mak rode around on a small quad most of the day. She is quite the rider! K&K played in the sand. They made sand castles, dug holes and slid down sand "waterfalls." This is Katie after going down a "waterfall." The girls' blue jeans were turned into white jeans from the sand. I'm still doing laundry from the trip!
It was a GREAT weekend. Thanks Dad and Uncle Bustin for coming over and putting up with us! We love you and can't wait to see you again!

Tim

As of 6:24 this morning, Tim is 11 years old! Where has the time gone? Tim is one awesome kid! For the most part, he does what he is told to do, loves school, and is very adventurous! Most days, he is a good big brother:) I love being Tim's mom! When you have a kid like him, being a mom is a piece of cake:) I went a little overboard with the pictures of Tim, but he was just so darn cute! I wish I could freeze him around 2 years of age! Enjoy:)

Makayla

Okay, so I went a little overboard with the pictures. I was just going to have one for each year, but as I was going through the photo albums, I had to add more. She was such a cute baby, even though she had no hair for the longest time. I was so excited to have a girl so I could do her hair, then Mak had very little until she was three. Now I am blessed with three girls' hair to do:) Hope you enjoy the slide show of my Mak!

Mak's Birthday Party!

April is such a busy month for us. Easter, spring yard work, and two birthdays a week apart. Both Tim and Mak were born in April. Today, we had Mak's "family" party. Her birthday is actually tomorrow, but Mondays are crazy at our house, so we had it today. Mak wanted Chicken Alfredo for dinner and brownies for her "cake." It's her birthday, so I deliver! My Mom always let us pick our Birthday dinner and cake, so why not keep the tradition going? Here's the birthday girl with her presents and brownie "cake!"Mak got a DS for Christmas and loves it. She wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up, so maybe this game will inspire her!
Her very first sewing basket! She loves it. She also got scraps of fabric and a pattern to make little coin purses and handbags! Oh boy:)
Yes, a sewing machine! Watch out Project Runway, here comes Makayla Wright! Tonight before bed, we watched part of an instructional DVD and Mak thread her machine, wound the bobbin, and practiced a straight stitch! She did great and was very patient. Tim practiced as well. Hey, there is nothing wrong with a boy who sews!
I can't believe my little girl is turning 9. She's not so little anymore! She has grown into a beautiful young lady. Tomorrow I will post pictures of her through the years. Hopefully:)

Spring in Utah:(

Are you kidding me? Snow, again? I should know that if a HUGE rain storm comes to Utah in early spring, it will most likely turn into snow. Seriously! I am so ready for warm weather, just warm weather. But I know that will not happen. In Utah, we get one, maybe two days of spring, then it is summer. I am not complaining, I just am SICK OF THE SNOW!!This is what we woke up to a week and a half ago. 6 inches of heavy, Utah snow! Today was just a dusting! I know with all the moisture, comes a beautiful, colorful spring, and even more gorgeous fall. Just enough snow already:)

Riddle Answer!

Here is the answer:

I was in the garage, moving some things around, and forgot that that blasted, very heavy, black ladder was leaning up against what I was about to move. OUCH!! It came crashing down on my head, leaving a scratch and a huge bruise. Boy did I let out a few choice words before almost falling on the ground. Lucky for me, Tim was a huge help and got me some ice and let me lay down for a time. Needless to say, I went to bed early that night! For awhile, it was so ugly. The cashier at Wal-Mart was totally starring me down one day. She was probably wondering if she should call the police and report spouse abuse. No worries, the bruise is almost gone and the pain in my shoulder is minimal. The ladder decided that my head was not enough, and got a piece of my shoulder too!

Tim!

This is Tim! Tim has a problem-he likes to BURP!
We were at Lowe's last week, getting supplies so I could reseal and caulk my tile shower. While my Mom and I were standing there talking to a Lowe's person, looking at all the products and reading labels, Tim was sliding on the cement floor and burping. This was no ordinary burping. He burped the entire ABC's, and copied everything my Mom and I said to each other about the products! Occasionally, he would just burp, LOUD!
So, after getting the supplies we thought would be the best, we walked up front by way of the ceiling fans. I wanted to see what fans Lowe's had. As soon as we got to the fan department, Tim let out this "ginormous" (Katie's word for gigantic) burp! OMG!! Then we hear a voice. It was the voice of a lady cleaning the fans up on a ladder. She complimented Tim's burp and said not to worry, she has 4 boys of her own! Tim was super embarrassed. He turned bright red and hid behind me. My Mom and I just laughed. This is one story he will never forget, especially when he starts dating and bringing girls home:)

Easter Weekend!

No surprise, we went camping over Easter/Spring Break/General Conference Weekend! Oh boy, what a weekend it was. I really don't know why we keep going every year, but we do! We've had wind, rain, freezing temperatures, and snow! I guess we went this year to test out our new trailer!
Your eyes are not playing tricks on you-that is a 5th wheel, toy hauler. It's a 30 footer with a garage in the back for the bikes, double bunks in the back as well for the kids to sleep on, two slide outs, an awesome bathroom, and a queen bed up front. She did so well for us! The nights were cold, but we stayed warm and dry!
The kids always have fun when we camp! They were able to ride like crazy through the trees and play in the sand with the sand toys we have. When it was cold, or there was an inch and a half of snow on the ground, we stayed inside and kept busy. T&M hooked up the game cube and played games.
K&K climbed up on the top bunk and watched movies. They love "Princess and the Frog" and "New Moon." We know the movies by heart now thanks to the bad weather we had:)
And then there was the motorcycle riding. We rode Friday after setting up camp, all day Saturday after it warmed up a bit, and a little Sunday after the snow melted and we went home. It was so much fun. Trails for miles and miles. We really liked the tight trails that wound their way through the Juniper Trees. I taught Mak how to drive my 4-wheeler. She did so good, and by the time we left, she was driving by herself. Of course, Tim followed her just in case and to ease my mind!
So, you are probably wondering if we learned our lesson and will wait til the weather is better next year. Probably NOT! We love going out, being together, and making memories that will last forever. Even if it means waking up to snow and wearing winter jackets all weekend long:) The view makes up for it all!

Here's a picture riddle for you! I'd love to see what you come up with, so leave a comment:) I'll give the answer in a couple of days!

What do you get when an innocent looking ladder and
myself meet up?

What About the Kids?

No need to worry, the kids were in great hands while we were in Florida! My Mom, Baci, stayed with and spoiled them to no end. Here are just a few of the pictures of what they did. Lots of dress-up. This is Kelli. What a love!

Katie:) Little Miss Attitude! The shoes belong to Mak. I should just buy boxes for Katie and forget about shoes. She is getting so TALL! Wonder why?
Baci let the kids sleep with her in my bed! This is Kelli and Mak. Are they so cute together. I love the hand holding:)
I guess Tim slept on the floor in my bedroom. He is playing his DS here. That's all he does anymore.
They made a spring cake and frosted it with their favorite colors. Tim=green (not actually his favorite color, just what was on hand.) Mak=blue. Kelli=pink. and Katie=yellow! I like Tim licking the bowl:)
Oh, and just in case some of you were wondering how we paid for the Florida trip - most of it was free. With all the traveling Cory does, he earned the flights to Jacksonville and back. And, all the hotels were earned as well. Having Cory gone so much actually pays off-sort of:)

Florida Trip - Day 4

This is the view that we woke up to Sunday morning! It's a little hard to see what is past the sand, but that is the Ocean! We stayed at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island, about 20 miles north of Jacksonville. This is what the front of the hotel looks like.

True be known, I actually liked the Waldorf better, but I liked the location of the Ritz! After brunch in the hotel's cafe, we took a walk along the beach to walk off all the food we had eaten. Yeah, right:) This is what the Ritz looks like from the beach. And this is me along the beach. (Boy do I look fat!) You can see the water better in this picture. We didn't stay long on the beach as it was so bright. We left our sunglasses in the car the night before. So, we headed back to the hotel and sat outside for awhile taking in the view.

Since it was Sunday, we decided to visit family. Yep, we have family on the East Coast! Cory's youngest brother, Cameron, and his cute family live about an hour and a half north of Jacksonville in Richmond Hill (not Hills, right Miranda), Georgia. So, after checking out of the Ritz, we were back in the car driving north. We drove through this. Beautiful! Can't image what it looks like in the summer. Must be breath taking:)
After driving for awhile, eating some great Mexican food, and getting lost in a rain storm, we arrived at the "Georgia" Wright's house! The best was when Emily, their only girl, ran out to the car and screamed, "I've missed you so much!" Cory replied, "Do you even know who I am?" Emily confidently answered, "You are my Dad's brother!" The rest of the day was spent catching up with Miranda and letting the kids climb all over us. Their Dad, Cameron, is in Afghanistan and has been gone for a month. Hopefully we were able to help Miranda and the kids out and help pass the time on a Sunday! Emily, 4, is sitting on Cory's lap. Ammon, 11 months, is on my lap. And Ben, 6, is sitting next to me. They are so cute and so much fun.
This is a better picture of Ammon. Where did the red hair come from? Thanks Miranda for the wonderful afternoon. Can't wait to see you all and Cameron at the lake this summer!
We had a little bit of a drive back to our hotel room, so we didn't stay too late. Our hotel was at a Marriott next to the airport. Not the best neighborhood, but we had an early flight out the next morning and didn't want to drive any further than we had to. This sunset sums up our trip for us. Beautiful!
