Florida Trip - Day 4
This is the view that we woke up to Sunday morning! It's a little hard to see what is past the sand, but that is the Ocean!
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island, about 20 miles north of Jacksonville. This is what the front of the hotel looks like.
True be known, I actually liked the Waldorf better, but I liked the location of the Ritz! After brunch in the hotel's cafe, we took a walk along the beach to walk off all the food we had eaten. Yeah, right:) This is what the Ritz looks like from the beach.
And this is me along the beach. (Boy do I look fat!) You can see the water better in this picture. We didn't stay long on the beach as it was so bright. We left our sunglasses in the car the night before. So, we headed back to the hotel and sat outside for awhile taking in the view.
Since it was Sunday, we decided to visit family. Yep, we have family on the East Coast! Cory's youngest brother, Cameron, and his cute family live about an hour and a half north of Jacksonville in Richmond Hill (not Hills, right Miranda), Georgia. So, after checking out of the Ritz, we were back in the car driving north. We drove through this. Beautiful! Can't image what it looks like in the summer. Must be breath taking:)
After driving for awhile, eating some great Mexican food, and getting lost in a rain storm, we arrived at the "Georgia" Wright's house! The best was when Emily, their only girl, ran out to the car and screamed, "I've missed you so much!" Cory replied, "Do you even know who I am?" Emily confidently answered, "You are my Dad's brother!" The rest of the day was spent catching up with Miranda and letting the kids climb all over us. Their Dad, Cameron, is in Afghanistan and has been gone for a month. Hopefully we were able to help Miranda and the kids out and help pass the time on a Sunday! Emily, 4, is sitting on Cory's lap. Ammon, 11 months, is on my lap. And Ben, 6, is sitting next to me. They are so cute and so much fun.
This is a better picture of Ammon. Where did the red hair come from? Thanks Miranda for the wonderful afternoon. Can't wait to see you all and Cameron at the lake this summer!
We had a little bit of a drive back to our hotel room, so we didn't stay too late. Our hotel was at a Marriott next to the airport. Not the best neighborhood, but we had an early flight out the next morning and didn't want to drive any further than we had to. This sunset sums up our trip for us. Beautiful!
