Last Thursday, Tim had quite the day. First, let me explain how it all came about. Cory has a good friend and client by the name of Bill Payne. Bill's daughter is married to Shane Knight's brother. Shane played basketball at BYU while I was playing ball at BYU. Turns out that Shane knows Chad Lewis, who is the new Assistant Athletic Director at BYU. Bill got a hold of Shane, and Shane contacted Chad. All involved became familiar with Tim, the cancer and the Head Shaving Party. Chad loved it and wanted Tim to be a "Hero!"
So, on Feb 3rd, about 27 football players who shaved their heads in honor of Tim, met up with us and we car pooled down to Provo. We all met at the new student/athlete building. Chad Lewis was there and took us to the scared football area! First, we went to the film room where the team meets to watch film and what not. We watched a highlight film and listened as some of the team's traditions were explained to us! Very cool :)
Then we got to go into the locker room! Only team members, coaches and Thursday heroes are allowed in there. It was amazing! Way better than the locker room I had at the Marriott Center:) After hanging out there for awhile and meeting some players, we walked over to the indoor practice facility. The football team was having a conditioning workout that we got to watch. All the kids had the opportunity to run around and jump on the equipment that was out. The facility is great. But then BYU always does things "first class."
After the workout, our group and the football players all met in the middle of the field. Tim was given a bag full of goodies and got to sign the big flag that leads the team out on the field of every home game! Then Tim got to "break down" the BYU football team! Basically he got to lead the team in their finally cheer of the day:) Then the team swarmed us with high fives and fist pumps! They were all very nice and very gracious. They were thanking us for coming and sharing Tim's story with us. (A couple of days before we went to BYU, I emailed them Tim's story and a couple of pictures. Before the workout, the team saw a slideshow of Tim.) A couple of the players and most of the kids played a game of shirts n skins football. Others went around getting autographs.
It was at this time that we met Bronco. After a few pictures, Bronco pulled Tim aside and talked with him privately. Then Bronco gave Tim the hat off his head. Bronco said that he doesn't give his hat away very often. I've never seen so many grown men get teary eyed! Tim has not let that hat out of his sight. It has a special place in Tim's room! We hung out for awhile and watched some of the players. Tim was so content to just lay there and watch. As we were walking out, Jake Heaps walked in and was mobbed by the boys!
Along with the bag of goodies, Tim received a "Y" flag with all the signatures of the players that were there. What made this Thursday Hero so special was that they usually don't do a Hero during the off season and the fact that Bronco attended the workout! And now for some pictures of the day-ENJOY!!!

What an amazing day for Tim and his friends!!! and how appropriately named.... Tim really is a hero and a great example along with his parents to all around on how to handle tough situations! I am amazed by you guys and pray for you and your girls too.
All I can say is WOW! What an experience. :)
Hey guys, we met Tim and Cory in the hospital this weekend. We were across the hall neighbors. :) Our favorite thing that Tim said when we asked him about having cancer was, "Yeah, it kinda sucks." :) What a strong, funny kid.
Our three year old, Elena, has ALL. We told Cory that there is a Utah Cancer Mom's Facebook group that we thought you might be interested in joining. It is a really great resource and support group. If you are interested, you just need to be "friends" with one of the moderators (it is a private group). You can either "friend" them or e-mail them with your info and they'll "friend" you - sorry I'm still pretty facebook illiterate. :) There are several mods - here are a few of their names, so you can look them up: Mystee Beal Sudbury, Jodi Evans Mortenson, Kristin Hanks Torres. If you have any problems or want any of their e-mail addresses, just let me know.
