Yesterday, destruction of the backyard began! Here is a picture of the garage before:
Gary Baker, our neighbor brought a small digger over and began to take out the cement behind the garage and to dig into the grass for the footings. We had quite the audience for the event. This picture shows just a few of the spectators at the beginning of the dig.
Gary didn't get as much done as he had hoped. The dirt in Herriman is full of rocks. This is a picture of the pile of rocks, with some dirt mixed in.
We had a pond in the backyard that we got rid of for the addition. Gary was able to fill in the hole with some of the dirt. Was I thinking or what? This picture is about as far as we got yesterday. I am quite excited for the whole thing. We have been planning this since spring, and now it is finally happening! I will keep you posted.

WOW! I was a little curious...I'll have to check it out when I run on the path behind your house. Construction is always a blast, right?
Holy moley that's a huge project! How's it coming? I look forward to more pictures! I'm proud of myself for re-caulking my bathtub, I can't imagine undertaking something as big as an addition. Good luck!
