Last Monday, K&K's class went on another field trip. Can you believe that there is actually an aquarium in Utah? The Living Planet Aquarium is located in Sandy, and it is worth it to check it out. A couple of years ago I would not have said that, but now I can. Since T&M are off-track for awhile, they came along with us and we spent most of the day looking at the three exhibits. There is the Utah Exhibit, the South America Exhibit and the Ocean Exhibit. We spent most of our time in the Ocean and South America Exhibits. Let's face it, marine life in Utah is not that interesting!
The sting-ray tank was a huge hit. We spent a lot of time with our fingers in the water touching the rays. They were soft and squishy to the touch. One of them was very friendly and would come right up on the side of the tank to have you pet it. He would just stay there and let you rub him. Tim nicknamed him "Friendly!" Go figure:) As you can see from the picture, Katie was a little freaked out to touch the rays. Finally, she got brave enough to stick her finger in on her own and barely tough the end of a ray.
Kelli loved the sting rays and could have spent all day touching them and laughing. I just love this picture of her. You can see the excitement in her face and smile! The jellyfish and the huge octopus were pretty cool as well. The kids liked looking at the jellyfish and hearing about the time their Uncle Colby got stung by some jellyfish the time we went snorkling in Florida. I just wish they could have seen him get extremely angry, curse into his mouth piece while under the water and splash water everywhere to scare the jellyfish away. It was quite the scene! Thanks for the laugh Colby!!
Like I said, we spent most of the day looking at all the exhibits and viewing the marine wildlife! There was so much-crocodiles, fresh water sting rays, snakes, spiders, shrimp, frogs, seahorses, turtles and of course fish. Here are some pictures of what we saw. Beautiful! Believe it or not, this little blue frog is very poisonous! But he's so cute:)
How many crocodiles so you see?
The Ocean Exhibit was beautiful. This is just a sample of what we saw!

Thanks for the pictures! I have been wanting to take my kids there but haven't made it yet. There are so many things we have close by that we need to take advantage of! :)
What a beautiful family! Tara was so excited that she ran into you the other day.
