High Uintas

Wow! I am finally caught up with posts!
This past weekend, we went camping in the High Uintas. Go figure, I have lived in Utah for 20 plus years now, and this is the first time I have been on the Mirror Lake Highway and spent any time in that part of the Uintas. (I know the Uintas around Vernal well.) Wow, this area is beautiful. Friday night, it was just our family. We found a camp site near the Duchesne River Tunnel for the night. We had a rough go, putting a dent in our truck with the trailer as we were trying to turn around. Ug:( After setting up camp and exploring the area, we had a great night roasting hot dogs and making smores. Mak ate four smores. She was quite proud of herself!
Saturday, the six of us went on a ride while waiting for our friends, the Douglas', to arrive. The area is so rocky and wet. The kids were troopers though and we survived all the rocks. Our friends showed up, and we picked up camp and moved further into the mountains. The second camp site us much higher in elevation, but closer to more trails. The kids had so much fun riding around, catching bubbles from an awesome bubble machine, playing in the sand, and exploring the area. The night we had a huge fire and stayed up way too late, again!
Sunday, after forcing ourselves to wake up, get dressed and put some food in us, we explored the area some more. We went down a another rocky trail to some waterfalls. For late June, there is a lot of water in Utah. Amazing! After that little ride, we packed up a lunch and drove our vehicles to some more waterfalls. I love Mirror Lake Highway! There is so much to see and do up there. I felt like I was in another world! Back at camp, we slowly packed up. But not before we made a tree swing and let all the kids go for a couple of rides. They LOVED it!
Then it was home where we had pizza for Father's Day! But, Cory was in is glory all weekend riding and hanging out with the family and friends! Enjoy the pictures!
